Wet hardwood floor under toilet

Hello-

I'm replacing a toilet in a family bathroom which has red oak hardwood floors. Generally, the floor is in great condition. When I pulled out the old toilet I noticed a small wet spot under the toilet. The size of the wet spot is about 3 inches by 4 inches. The wood doesn't appear to be moldy, or rotting; just wet.

Q- do I need to replace this piece of wood before I install the new toilet? I'm hoping the answer is "no" becaue this will change from a DIY job to a professional job which I wasn't planning to spend money on.

Appreciate any advice.

If the wood isn't rotted, you don't need to do anything. Just make sure the new toilet doesn't leak or else your wood floor will be damaged.

In general, it's not a good idea to have a wood floor in a bathroom because of the water and humidity.

Yeah, I know that folks don't like hardwood floors in a bathroom, but my house came with hardwood floors and they are very pretty so I'm keeping them.:-)
