wood floors with a small tile entry?

I'm getting ready to replace old carpeting with vinyl plank flooring in our home. We have a small tiled area by the front door (around 9 sq feet). We do not have a foyer, you just open the door into a living/dining combo (like many newer builds in California). So my question is, would it be strange to leave the tile and just use a transition strip for the tile to "wood" transition? We can use a transition molding that is for a difference in floor levels. Or should I suck it up and do the tile demo? The new floors will be dark like walnut. Thanks for advice!
