Textured carpet generally do reduce vacuum/footprints but as you found out first hand it is not always the case due to variation in material, coloring, and what is considered textured. Frieze carpets are usually best in a cut pile carpet for vacuum marks and footprints, otherwise, you need to go loop. Judging by what you chose previously, you seem to be concerned about softness, and the frieze will likely be better in that regard. Good luck.

Do you know of a low cut pile frieze that would be good? I am limited to Lowe's selections at this point.

I don't know enough about Lowe's complete selection to give you a good choice and their website is worthless for presenting specs to really narrow anything down. Look for either a Triexta/Smartstrand or a Nylon and be careful that it is 100% and not a blend with poly/PET. I hope that you are not limited to in-stock product as I know the Lowes around us only carry the cheap poly's and blends in stock. I think one time I went in and found only one nylon product and it was pretty bottom of the barrel as far as nylon goes. You pretty much have to take a few hours and plow through their selection of samples, of which they seem to have an ample selection.
