Underlayment for Bamboo?

Posted by rbse (My Page) on

We have pretty much settled on using engineered bamboo flooring on our remolding, installed as a floating floor. We will be installing close to 800 sq ft which will include the kitchen. The sub floor is nice and solid wood and is over a basement with no moisture issues. My first question would be do I need to use an underlayment. I want a nice solid sounding floor. I have received two different opinions and would like to hear from someone who has installed this type of flooring. Also, I really want to install this floor wall to wall before the new kitchen cabinets are put in. Almost every flooring person that I have asked this question to does not see a problem and again I would just like to hear from someone who has done this.
Thanks,
RB

use the best underlayment you can find. My opinion you will hate the bamboo in 6 months.

I think that is about the most "brainless" reply I have heard to a question in a long time. Must have taken someone with your intelligence a couple of days to put that together. What a moron.
