We're renovating our kitchen. We have 25 year old linoleum now, on top of linoleum/sheet goods on top of subfloor. I'm reluctant to peel up all the layers because there might be asbestos in the underneath layer of linoleum. It was installed in 1968 when the house was built.

If we want ceramic, we'll have to bite the bullet and get rid of the existing stuff, but would it be possible to lay Pergo on top of what's there?

If we have to remove, I plan on testing a piece of the old linoleum. If there's no asbestos it will make life simpler.
