Must you test moisture of hard wood before installing if...

Hey guys!

I had a question regarding hard wood flooring. My husband and I have a lot of pine tongue and groove wood that we installed on the ceiling of our A-frame home.

We are building a new home and are wanting to install oak hard wood floors and were wondering if the same process applies.

With our current home and ceilings, we purchased the wood rough and let it acclimate in our home for 3-4 weeks (or better for some of the wood.. we worked kind of slowly!). We worked very hard to make the ceilings tight and have only a very few (2 maybe!?!?) places were there are any gaps and they are very, very slight.

My question is, if we do the same process of purchasing the hard wood rough and letting it acclimate for 3-4 weeks or better, will we still need to test the moisture of the wood, or can we count of having the same luck as we did with the pine ceilings?

Thanks a lot!
