You have no reason to worry at all about this. Worry about Hydraulic Fracturing for natural gas or the Keystone XL Pipeline being built across the country that will carry Canadian Tar Sands Oil for export. Those two things could affect your granddaughter's future, the removal of flooring from the apartment will not.

To put things into perspective ... the persons who got lung cancer from asbestos exposure were not hanging out for a few hours near some kitchen floor tile that was being removed.

They were mining it, working in factories that made things out of it, and spraying it onto ships or steel girders as insulation ... heavy exposure for years and years.

Or they were the families of these people who cam home with asbestos dust all over their clothes ... for years and years.

And most of them were heavy smokers.

So, as long as your grandchild doesn't take up a 3-pack a day cigarette habit and start hanging out with asbestos miners, she'll be OK.

My daughter's apartment tested negative for asbestos as I thought it would. You are so right about the pipeline and fracking. I'm a leftie and know all about that stuff. We need more people on soapboxes.

More people are against hydraulic fracturing for natural gas and the Keystone XL Pipeline than Congress may realize. Our 'environmental president' is no such thing. Actions speak louder than words and he speaks with forked tongue.
