Old Hardwood

| I have an older bungalo built in 1949. The main room is hardwood, but I don't know what kind, and I don't know what finish. It's dull, and you can feel the woodgrain so we assumed it was just waxed. We've waxed them a few times ourselves, and they turned out OK, but there are a few spots where the wax seems to be tacky/sticky. I'd like to use a wax stripper on the whole floors, and then re-wax them. Home Depot has been no help, as no one seems to wax floors any more. There are also two spots that we have given a light sand, as there were stains on them. They don't seem to blend in well with a re-wax, so I was hoping a stripper would help start from scratch. What do you think I should do, aside from sanding them down and re-finishing them? |

| Maybe - have them professionally buffed. Costs less than sanding, they use the big machines. Get some floor men to give you some advice and bids and find out your options. |
