Affordable tile for utility room?

We are waiting to hear back from our builder on pricing for our new home, and trying to choose finishes while he does that. What do you think is the best type of reasonably priced tile for a utility room? It will be an area where our small dogs will stay during the day time with a doggy door, so I need something that would suit that as well. I love terra cotta tile but it is a craftsman style home so I want to make sure it goes with that style.

If you can find something you like, Lowes or HD are good places for cheap tile. I think my laundry and half bath tile cost about $1.70 per sq ft. at HD, and both look good for the application. Other areas, where I'm more picky, were from $5 to $14. My local preferred tile shop had a parking lot sale last weekend, $1 and up. There are loads of tile places around me.
