laying porcelen tile , advise please

We have tiled a room in the wood look tile in a light wood color textured tile (old barn look). It was our first tile job. We used brown grout and the tiles had a brown film on them when we were done. we waited for everything to dry and sealed the grout and them got to scrubbing the tiles. We used vinegar and with a lot of scrubbing the tiles came clean. Now that it has dried the brown grout is white in places. Could the vinegar have stripped the color from the grout? How can I restore the color with out regrouting the room? Also we are about to lay the same tile in another room. What can we do better? Thanks

I think the problem was that you didn't properly clean the grout residue as you were grouting. They should have been carefully cleaned...as little water in the sponge as possible and buffed when barely dry with a microfibre. Wait a couple of days and then seal.

Probably the use of vinegar leached out some of the color in the grout.

Only two ways to restore the color.....either dig out the grout at least 2/3 the way down and re-apply or use a liquid "grout colorant" with a small disposable rubber brush.

thanks for helping a newbe. I think the second room will come out better. It is so hard to find anyone to do honest work around here we decided to do It ourselves . We did pretty good but have a lot to learn. Thanks!!!!
