Coming from a European background I grew up and visited in homes that were tile floor to ceiling as well as on some ceilings, what I can tell you is , cold, cold, and colder. As for the ease of care, getting down on hands and knees to clean grout lines is no fun either.

I discovered Luxury Vinyl Tile from the nice folks at gardenweb a bit ago and where I was going to choose porcelain wood look tile before, now I'm really leaning towards this instead. I was still going to do carpet in the bedroom but ya might look into LVP if you're looking at tile. I can't see tile in the bedroom without radiant heat in the floors and even then ugh. Everytime you get onto the floor to get underneath the bed..for whatever reason..you'd need kneepads!

I have polished concrete floors in my lakehouse and we love them. I just vacuum and wet swiffer. In my case it is a very casual look and we think the occasional scratch, crack, ect adds to the character. In our main house we have slate in the kitchen/family room and love it. Granted the floor is cold, but we are in Texas where it is almost always hot. Also, a friend recently did polished concrete in her home and scored it so it looked like tile without the grout. It looks much nicer than our lakehouse floor
