You'll get different opinions based on experience. Among the top choices are Bona Traffic, Basic Coatings Street Shoe and Synteko Star. I use lots of Bona due to supply history and experience but have used Synteko and know lots of people who swear by Street Shoe.
For Bona products you can access their website to research what the sheen levels are to tailor a product to your desire. I imagine the others have the same.

JFCWood, have you had any issues using bona traffic over a dark stain? (i read somewhere that it could be problematic, but no reasoning for it) can i use minwax stain over the sanded floors, then the traffic directly over it? and how many coats of traffic do you usually do?

and do you notice a difference b/t traffic and traffic HD? thanks!

When you're looking for "the best", that seems to preclude any single component products.
The only issues over dark stain that I can think of are to make sure the stain is dry before using the water-borne urethane and possible streaking using duller finishes like Satin or Matte. Instead of Minwax stain, look into Dura Seal Quick Coat stains. They now offer all the Minwax colors in a fast drying formulation. Traffic applies fairly thick so two coats is sufficient. I haven't had streaking issues when it's applied properly.
I've only used the Traffic HD at a hair salon but they wear the floor so quickly I can't gauge whether it's that much better. In a house it's probably overkill. Most people aren't worried about the ultimate durability since they're going to recoat the floor for cosmetic reasons far before it wears out.

thank you, JFC! thanks for the rec on duraseal. the minwax would be put down a full day prior to the start of the bona...should that be enough time or would you still recommend the duraseal?

Or...you can stick with the complete Bona system and use their DriFast stain. If you do that, then you will have no compatibility issues.

Although DriFast is a fast track product, overnight drying is what I recommend.

Most makers (if not all) require that an oil stain dry thoroughly before application of their product. IIRC, the accepted dry time is generally 72 hours.
As glennsfc points out, Bona has a line of compatible stains. My experience with them is that they aren't quite as dark or rich as Dura Seal or Minwax.
