Is solid sound as loud as it seems?

Hello,

The people above me installed hardwood with SOLID SOUND PLUS
Now I hear footsteps and even get WOKEN UP!

Is SOLID SOUND PLUS COMPLETE GARBAGE?

What should I do?

Do about what? The noise waking you or installing a new floor. What?

Should I threaten to take them to court?

Should I actually take them to court?

Strata bylaws say hardwood is allowed but it must be installed with sufficient sound dampener to minimize noise transmission to other strata lots. Did they break strata bylaws when they chose this garbage? In other words, are there better products out there for minimizing noise transmission to adjacent homes?

Have you just tried talking to your neighbors to discuss a potential solution before involving expensive lawyers? If you sue your neighbors you'll likely going to have to foot the bill for the lawyer's fees. How about your homeowners association? Do they not have some kind of complaint resolution process?
