We just added a room above the garage....trying to decide on flooring. I would prefer not to have wall to wall carpet but am not opposed to carpet tiles.

We have engineered wood in kitchen, hall, 1/2 bath and great room that we love so that would be great too. Mohawk Smartstrand on second level which we adore. Brick [ceramic by Daltile] in entry and dining room.

Husband laid all but carpet so ideally he'd lay this to save money.

This area is primarily for my children to escape and for us to make them escape. LOL. I plan to let them have food and snacks up there and they'll have all sorts of friends....so low maintenance and easy clean up is key.

Leaning towards some time of laminate or engineered plank.

I read about the Novalis flooring but concerned about it not being floating.

Any wonderful ideas or brands that I should consider?

It's a small space 18x10 too.
