Rent or buy a carpet kicker.

Yep, going to rent one at Home Depot as I don't really see a need for one. Sounds like common sense, but probably easier said than done for someone who's never used one. We'll see how it turns out...

So thats not really working. Got the knee kicker and the tools that go along with it - knife, roller, tucker, etc. If I use the kicker and get one section of carpet to grab onto the tack strip, I then slide down and use the kicker again, it pulls the last section back off the tack strip. What am I doing wrong? Am I hitting it too hard or doing it too close to the previous section?

The kicker is 4" wide. I'm basically doing one 4" section, that grabs I then move on to the next 4" section and that grabs but it pulls the last 4" section off.

I kinda sorta got it. Not sure what I was doing wrong...guess like with everything, it comes with practice. I ended up kicking a section, then tucking it down behind the laminate, then kick the next section and tuck that, so basically kick, tuck, kick, tuck, kick, tuck. Gave it a little tug and vacuumed afterwards and it didn't come up, so I guess its ok.

But for future reference, what was I doing wrong or is that the way to do it?
