What type of transition strip can I use between a hardwood floor and a slate tile floor? I recently removed the carpeting in my living room to expose the hardwood floor. I also removed the carpet transition strip which was next to the slate floor in the foyer. Now the slate floor is about 3/8 inches above the wood floor.

A wood reducer to match your flooring should work nicely. If no one has one, they should be able to make one out of wood stock to match. It might cost a couple of bucks, but it shouldn't be too too astronomical.

Purchase a end cap molding for a 3/8, or 7/16 thick wood flooring. They are sometimes called a baby threshold, or a carpet cap threshold.
