Hi everyone,
I am having 3/4 inch prefinished oak installed in my home. Subfloor is currently 1/2 in plywood with particle board over that (previous flooring was carpet). My contractor said he'll replace the particle board with 1/4 in plywood and secure it using staples and glue. Are staples and glue an acceptable way to secure the second layer of plywood, or should it be screwed down? We have a few really noticeable squeaks and moans so I want to make sure those don't reappear in the future.
