What kind of subfloor is in that bed room? Ply? Or particle board?
And has there ever been water damage upstairs?

Just a long shot too but if the subfloor is in top notch shape and no waterdamage then i would look at the floor joists near the hangers.

Thank you. We just bought it so not sure if there was water damage. I've ripped up flooring downstairs and it's all plywood for the subfloor. House was built 20 years ago by Toll Bros if that helps.

Sounds like I may need to rip up the carpet.

Im not a carpet guy so i dont know if you carefully pull up the carpet if it can be restretched or not but maybe thats something to keep in mind if replacing is not in the budget.
