Superchick hope I can answer your questions here. As to Lowe's version of carpet being on the cheap side that can be any flooring store. Flooring stores will buy carpet from the manufacturers and can be special labeled for that particular retailer. The name can be changed and you may not be able to find the same carpet at any other retailer.

With regards to the carpet a frieze is a carpet that has less crushing because of the twist of the threads. It has always been a rule of thumb that the twist is one of the most important points in determining the durability of the carpet. I have worked in flooring for over 15 years and can tell you that in my opinion Mohawk is not the best brand out there, just the best in marketing their flooring. So don't worry so much about the brand. Mohawk is the worst when it comes to claims against their product. I would be more concerned about how many oz there are in the product. 35-40 is a fairly average weight, above 50 is fabulous. And one more thing, when ever I sell the carpet I tell people that your pad is so important to the durability of your floor. If you have a high traffic area do not go less than an 8 lb pad, don't budge on that. It will make a huge difference in the durability of the floor. If it's in a bedroom you can go with a 6 lb pad but no less. Good luck with your choices. Hopefully I've helped put you at ease on your selection.

Thanks so much for the reply! I went back to the store and got the info off the carpet I really liked. It is 100%stainmaster anso nylon, face weight 49 oz, twist 6.5, and density 2352. Does this sound like a good choice?
