Our carpeted, guest bedroom is above our master bedroom, and I don't sleep much when we have visitors because I hear the floor creaking and squeaking loudly every time they get up in the night. Eventually, I'd like to replace the carpet with hardwood floor, which I hope would allow us to fix the ?subfloor? (Not sure if that's the right term) and add insulation. Does that sound like a good plan and are there any short-term fixes I could do in the meantime? It's making me a grouchy host! Thanks.
