Flooring Disaster

howudoing

I hired a flooring company to install new hardwood in the partly carpeted areas adjacent to existing hardwood, sand the whole floor and stain. After the staining is complete, there is a clear distinction between the old floor and the new one. I have added pictures of how it currently looks. During the day light it's not very bad. But during night times it's like day and night.

Installer don't see a big difference and thinks it's allright. I want to get this fixed properly. What are my options? Project is on hold and not poly'd yet.

Should I re-sand and re-stain by diluting the stain by adding some neutral stain?
