The dumbest thing you think is funny
Comments (4)The scene in She Stoops to Conquer when the naughty son makes his mother believe they are on a desolate hill top where a highway man is about to rob them. In reality, he took her on a carriage ride over every bumpy road in the county in the dark and back again through the horse pond to her own backyard. She runs out to the highway man (her own husband) in the dark and begs on her knees for her life. I always laugh out loud when I read this. I love this play dearly and wish someone would take a break from Jane Austin and make a movie of this. If we're talking straight up silly then it's Goofy as Mr. Wheeler chalking up marks on the side of his car or the scene in Yellowbeard where they kill old blind Pew...See MoreMost laughable non-green thing you've seen lately
Comments (58)"a bunch of people claiming to be "green" chatting away on their computers made of plastics. no, it was the person who complained about the SUV's in the bank drive through while he/she was waiting in the drive through line. Or is it the people who don't realize that trees can be grown as a crop, much like corn, only it takes longer." Funny. Apparently to some people, environmentalism is an all-or-nothing situation. Apparently you either live naked in the woods and eat twigs and berries, or you support wasting as much of everything as possible. FYI, it's not the plastic that goes into computers that's the problem -- it's the power that they consume. And tree farms are major hogs of land and are nearly as poor at supporting diverse ecosystems as conventional farms are. Anyway, as for my worst recent example? I recently received two ram chips and 6 SATA cables (each flexible and perhaps double the size of a piece of linguini along each axis) in a 1'x1.5'x2' box....See MoreDumbest thing you've done with or to your maters?
Comments (24)Over watering, over fertilizing, planting too early or late, too small of container, you could pretty much name it and I've probably stumbled my way through it but the dumbest thing I've done with tomatoes is NOT growing them. When I moved to a sloping, wooded site 25 yrs ago I picked the sunnyest, flatest lrg spot I had, tilled her up and made garden same as I'd done all my life. After 3 yrs of the deer, coons, possums and squirrels getting ALL of it I quit, the job kept me awful busy anyway and electrifying a fence wasn't an option back then, still isn't for me and that well couldn't keep up with the competition the trees put on it either. For whatever reason, it never dawned on me that I could at least have some veggies in containers and do what it took to protect them. Thankfully that was, although a long time coming, a temporary situation and with the advent of motion detector spotlights being readily availible, I'm in ground again too and loving it! Comments (31)I was driving home from college and had to pass under a railroad trestle that diagnolled the street. As I was coming up to the bridge, an 18 wheeler lost a tire and rim, that rolled across 3 lanes of traffic, hit the concrete pillar of the trestle, bounced back across 4 lanes of traffic, across a parking lot and landed in the back of a pickup truck parked in front of a car repair shop. Everyone in all 4 lanes of traffic, slowed down and watched it all happen, no one was hit. The guys in the shop came out and just stared. I don't think the driver even knew he had lost his wheel. Back in the late 70's when I-15 finally was finished and didn't go through Las Vegas, DH and I were heading for California. It was late afternoon and had been raining off and on. I looked over at the skyline of Vegas and there was a huge rainbow over the entire city. A Kodak moment and I didn't have a camers. Swear!!!...See Morekathy_
