| I figure this is as good of a place as any to ask my very ignorant question. I thought my DH would like a gun for Christmas - something for target practice; a rifle. Is it even possible to buy a gun as a gift? I'm thinking background checks and lots of paperwork is involved, but I'm not sure.
Thanks! |

| Yes, it is legal to "gift" a firearm as long as the person that is receiving it is legally allowed to own a firearm in accordance with State/Federal laws. Simply put, if they are capable of walking in a buying the firearm their self, then it is legal to "gift" that person a firearm. If the person you are gifting the firearm to is not allowed by law to own a firearm, then it would be called a "straw purchase" and would be ILLEGAL. |
