How to install 6' SS liner in 8' square flue

I am trying to line my chimney with a 6" stainless steel liner. It has an 8" clay line adn if I push the pipe "square" it goes down but I can only get it down about a foot.

I haven't tried to use any mechanical means to get it in but maybe that is the only way?

I appreciate any help.
