Hello,

During our remodel we plan on putting in a new fireplace gas insert that is oblong and has stones in the bottom of it. Does anyone have any good advise on what to look for or specific brands? Thanks, Laura

We are considering the Halcyon direct vent - glass or stone media options. Would love to hear of others to look at as well.

Our builder is also suggesting Spark.

My contractor is having the Cosmo SLR 42" direct vent gas fireplace from Heat & Glo in Tonic Graphite installed during our home rehab. We selected the ceramic fiber glass media (look like river rock) and the optional log set, and we're hoping to combine them for a river rock & drift wood look. The fireplace guy is charging around $2500, all said and done.

Wow kimrisek..You got a deal on your Cosmo! I checked out the Cosmo SLR42 today at the only local store to stock them. I was quoted $3200 (included base of $2499 + extra for front/media/venting pipe)not including any labor.
If yours is installed now, are you happy with it?

We just ordered the heat and glo Cosmo sls for our basement with the fog front and stones. We are waiting for delivery so would love to see photos of one installed.

MichelleDT do you know the approximate cost of the Halycon or Spark?

The pricing below was based on tear out and installation of a new modern fireplace. We have since decided to build a home and I do not yet have pricing for the new build. We are doing much longer units in the new build than when we were going to remove and replace in our existing home. The Spark was $3K more than the Heat and Glo model. Both 2 sided view.
