doesn't work this year

What kind of repairman do you call? My gas fireplace seems to be old, but it worked the first year we owned the house. Then last year I thought we were wasting money on the pilot light being on all year, so turned it off, now can't remember how I did it. But I also think there is a hole in a connection, so I just left the fireplace alone.

Who ya gonna call?

Look around the control valve area, see if you can find a brand name. With luck you'll find a model number as well...

With that info, you may be able to find lighting info online. If not, you'll still be able to track down a local service person.

Or you could call your gas supply company: some of them will come light your gas appliances as a courtsey/safety service.
