Heatilator Gas Fireplace, HIgh winds outside, lots of 'shrill' in

Our master bedroom has a 30 inch Heatilator direct vent gas fireplace. It works well. Unfortunately, when we have high winds outside (15+ mph), the fireplace "shrills" - from I suspect, the outside winds entering through the exhaust vent. The exhaust vent does have a Heatiltor "wind-shield" and our pilot light does not go out.

There is no breeze or draft from under or around the fireplace glass or the gas valve/pilot control area that I can detect.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this annoying noise?
