Wife and I are looking into getting a wood burning furnace. We currently have a gas furnace. Is it possible to hook up the wood burner to my existing duct work for the gas furnace? We have a vent from the furnace going to the garage so I was thinking that I could just plug the wood burning furnace into that. Would that work just fine? And, do I need to hook it to the cold air return, if so, how would I go about doing this?
Our house is 1500 sq ft single story ranch with the garage on the east side of the house and bedrooms on the west side. I would appreciate any tips, advice or different ideas that anyone could give us. Thanks |

| I didn't know there was such a thing! Considering that most municipalities now forbid new wood-burning fireplace construction, I'd be surprised if a wood-burning furnace was even allowed. Sounds like an awful lot of work! Are you talking about replacing your gas furnace with a wood-burning one? Or using a wood-burner to heat just your garage? |
