Is the heatlilator inside the firebox of your fireplace? If so, it can last for many years. The only thing is that they are prone to rust out if they are exposed to moisture (i.e., you don't have a cap on your chimney or you don't keep your damper closed). I'm not aware of any inserts to replace the floor of the heatilator. The floor of your firebox (underneath the heatilator lining) was likely constructed of firebrick, though, so there is probably no need to worry. If you haven't done so in awhile, I would highly recommend having everything inspected by a reputable chimney sweep who is capable of making repairs. This can cost anywhere from $80-$250 dollars.
