need advice on wood burning stove

Please help: small house, expensive (unreliable due to storms) forced air heat in winter. No gas lines anywhere. We'd like to put in a small wood stove, but know nothing about it. Mainly, what's a good brand and can you vent it out one story and then out, or do you have to vent it all the way to the top of the second story? Tips on cleaning it, or installation woes? Thanks! Your best source of information would be
There are many brands, sizes and prices of wood stoves. All solid fuel appliances - like woodstoves - must vent into a Class A chimney. Other requirements vary from state to state, town to town according to building and fire codes.

Before you install a wood burning stove, you may want to discuss that with your insurance company!!

If you do go forward with a wood stove, make sure it's installed by a local distributor, and that the local building inspector signs off on the installation. Otherwise should you have any problems down the road, you may be out of luck!
