delft tile fireplace

does anyone have any good advice on delft tile? where to buy it? I am shocked at the price, even the plain field tiles are so expensive.

I'd love to see pictures of how people did theirs. I am trying to recreate one I saw in the Netherlands years ago.

Have you tried ebay? The antique stuff is still wicked high, but the modern isn't too bad and the upside is that you don't need too much for a nice look.

Another alternative might be Mexican talavera. Has a *bit* of the delft aesthetic for waaay less:
