Pallet Stove vs. Direct vent FP

Hi there,

We are currently getting our house remodeled. We used to have a Whitfield Pallet stove and it was working great. But location of Fireplace is now changed so my contractor is saying that to reinstall Whitfield pallet stove in new place it will coast $800 for installation + $400 for materials. Does this sound right ? So, his suggestion is to go for a new Direct vent fireplace instead of spending on reinstalling pallet stove. This new one is going to cost around $1700. I am not able to decide which way to go? Please help.

Let's see, $1,200 for something you like, or $1,700 for the contractor. HMMM.
Contact a stove shop and ask about installation prices. The contractor could be pushing you in a direction HE wants you to go.
