PHX, although it may seem counter-intuitive, you will get better results by pointing a fan at the stove. I have a similar setup to yours and I use a tower fan which is pretty quiet to blow in at an angle toward the back of the fireplace and hot air comes out the other side. It also helps to have a block-off plate installed around your stovepipe to hold the heat down if you don't have one already. My setup works great for me although I have a Pacific Energy steel stove which is more of a convection heater than your cast iron radiant VC. Good luck.
