Gas Logs Won't Light Properly

I have a propane gas log heater that the pilot works fine but the logs dont light properly. After I turn the thermostat up, it takes about 10 or 15 min for the logs to light. After I turn the thermostat up, I can tap on the controller and the logs will light immediately. Does this mean I have a bad controller.

By controller I'm assuming you mean the gas valve. Sometimes the gas valve can stick internally and replacing it may be the only expensive option. If you are handy you could possibly take it apart and repair it, but I'm not recommending that so I'm not going any further with it.
