Please help me convert my double sided fireplace to gas

Hi

I have a 1977 home with a double fireplace that is see through from the living room into the dining room. How can I convert this to gas? It seems like it is impossible to do this and keep the see thru feature.
Can I just have gas logs installed? If yes- vented or unvented? I also read about some that are partially vented?? I am in King County in Washington state.
