How do you turn on a gas fireplace?

Forgive the stupid question, but....I just bought a house with a gas fireplace and I've never had one before. It's a 2 year old house and I'm not the original owner. I see the key thing on the wall, but I don't know how to turn it on, and there's no instruction manual. Any ideas? I just don't want to blow myself up. Thanks!

Oh, I've just looked under the logs. There is a button on the left and on the right, a knob that says Off - Pilot on the right and then Hi - Low on the left. Now what in the world you do with all that, I don't know - LOL

Well, after a bit more investigation found 2 candy wrappers and the instructions underneath the unit after lifting out the front log bit. Now I have it lit.

I just purchased a home and the gas fireplace I think it is becasue the switch on the wall, the gas thing coming out the outer side and the panel on the side of the house that looks like an exhust for it is there. Well this guy took the entire lining, and brick part out and now all I see is the wood frame of the house can that be purchased at Lowes or home depot and simply be put back in??
