Valor G4 Fireplace - Aeration Adjustment?

TurboDan

Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster!

I have a Valor G4 fireplace, and if I leave it on high for more than an hour or so, a small amount of black carbon forms on the large left log that goes over the fire. If I turn it back down to a medium setting, it will go away over a couple of minutes. This fireplace is new to me, so I'm wondering if this is normal or if I need to have the aeration of the burner adjusted. I have had my gas pressure tested (NG) and it is within the ratings. Does anyone else have a similar fireplace and can tell me if it is normal?

Thanks!
