Noise from gas insert when heating/cooling ?

Posted by ejbrymom (My Page) on

I am noticing noises when the gas fireplace insert expands/contracts when heating/cooling. Sounds like popping/someone banging a pot. Anyway NOT have it be so noisy? Is this normal? Our fireplace isn't finished yet so I am hoping once we have the surround/mantle done we will hear it much less.

Thank you so much!

Mine does the same thing but it's coming from the top of the insert. Not much you could do as far as I know, I'm kinda use to it now.

My insert has ceramic brick surrounding the three sides but nothing on the top of it. Not sure if it would cause a fire if this was on the to as well.

I sometimes hear some noise after I shut my gas insert off. Mostly a popping kind of noise, but not very loud and not very many. Not as loud as banging a pot.
