Lennox remote not working

I have a Lennox direct vent fireplace with remote. I've replaced batteries (twice) in both remote and receiver; however, the red light on the receiver continues to blink and the remote doesn't work. When I turn the switch to "on" on the receiver unit it lights right up.

Anyone have any suggestions before calling in the repairman? Thanks in advance
