We purchased a home 4 years ago with this FP. Never considered having a fire in it until this year. We were told by the previous (and original) owners that it was only used a handful of times. It looks very clean. We happened to look into the gaps in the brick above the firebox and noticed that one of the "tubes" of the heating unit may looked cracked. We know that we probably need to get someone in to look at it, but we are curious if anyone is familiar with this type of unit and what it would take to fix it - or if it is even possible to fix it?
