| I have a 1974 Vermont Castings Vigilant wood stove. I need to purchase the air intake shutter assembly. I am willing to buy the entire thermostic control with the bi-metallic coil if I have to. I just can't find any place around me here in NW New Jersey.
Anyone on this forum know of a place I could call or go online to purchase? Thanks,

| What you have is called a "Smoke Dragon". You can't get the parts anymore without hard searching because it's obsolete and should be replaced with an EPA certified unit. The Vt Castings stoves today are CAT equipped and burn clean compared to your unit. Many states are offering rebates to stove owners that will toss those obsolete units for new ones. The newer units burn longer on less wood. And the CAT burns off the bad gasses that would normally go up the chimney and pollute. After 33 years your stove has long outlived it's life and should be retired. |

| Hi there, thanks for the answer. The year is 1977 and not 1974. I found two places that have the parts. I know this stove is not earth friendly, but it is still a great stove. It's been checked by code officials in my township then the house I think!!! |
