Fireplace Hearth Slab

I am building a new home and the fireplace has cultured stacked stone surround and goes up to the ceiling. Does anyone know how thick the Mutual Materials cultured stone hearth cap piece is? Is there a common thickness for the hearth stone top piece? I'm thinking anywhere from 2" to 3" would look good. Thanks for any suggestions.
