Fireplace Xtrordinair or Regency Gas Insert?

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a Fireplace Xtrordinair Direct Vent Gas Insert or a Regency Direct Vent Gas Insert. I am considering the FPX 34 DVL Large Fireplace Insert and the Regency E33 Gas Insert and am having a hard time deciding. My fireplace opening is 40" wide and 26.5" high. I could use something smaller, but the larger units have such a nice viewing window. My house is a little over 1400 sq. ft.
I am interested in using the fireplace as a supplement to
my natural gas heat, not necessarily heating the entire house.

Thanks for any comments.

RE: Fireplace Xtrordinair or Regency Gas Insert?

There's often a lot to be said for a gas fireplace with a smaller input. Direct vent gas fireplaces are high efficiency, and for that reason putting out a lot of heat can be a problem--- and can easily overheat a room for much of the year.

One hotel manager summarized the problem for me on one occasion --- "Our guests come here for a romantic weekend, and fifteen minutes after turning on the gas fireplace, they have to turn on the air conditioner!"
