True Masonary Looking Fireplace

Posted by lucifer2 (My Page) on

I am building a new house and was told buying a factory fireplace would be cheaper than building a masonary fireplace... However, I want a factory build one that looks just like the masonary... Meaning, I want the opening flush with the floor and able to build our the brick ouside the opening on the floor... Almost all of the factory fireplaces I have seen have metal aroudn the face and are not flush to the floor... Does anyone know some factory built fireplaces that meet these requirements, or should I bite the bullet and build a real fireplace?

Perhaps a happy compromise would be a pre-fabricated fireplace. Cheaper and lighter than building from scratch, but with all the attributes of a mason-built fireplace. Check out the link to Isokern Fireplaces below.

Hope this helps,

James

I have two Isokerns and love them. They aren't cheap, but, they are not as expensive as building a masonry fireplace. They are built out of volcanic rock and are therefore lighter and they use a metal flue.
