I installed a Lennox Brentwood in my new 1900 sq ft home. I've had about 8 fires with it so far and I'm very pleased with the unit. I easily brought the great room/ dining room/ kitchen vaulted area up to 78 degrees. I was originally concerned about needing a larger firebox. I believe Lennox purchased security chimney (BIS line of fireplaces) and they have a very good reputation among consumers. My only complaint so far is that the blower is louder than I'd like. I just put in a fan speed control, but haven't tried it out yet. Also, the refractories are expensive to replace, but new ones can be fabricated using refactory cement, if necessary.

I'm using a Villa Vista in it's second season. Beautiful unit, with the full view glass door. I'm with gpep, my only issue is the blower is too loud. But mine came with a speed control; still you want to get the heat off the unit and you can't do tha with a slow blower. I'm looking into alternatives.

This unit will run you out of a 400 sq. ft family room. I can easily get it to 80° if I desire. I'm looking into better ways to distribute the heat, it's not located centrally, which is problematic in an "L" shaped house.
