| Hi-I just found and joined Garden Web. My DH and I just installed a wood furnace, and are building the chimney. We are using square concrete chimney blocks, with clay tile liner, and are planning to sheath the whole thing with fieldstone. We are placing brick ties in the mortar joints as we go.
Has anyone had any experience with laying stone chimneys? I've done a bit of dry stone work for retaining walls and flowerbeds, as well as fishponds, but have not used mortar for anything other than brick or concrete block. Any advice? Thanks for having me here. |
