Fireplace Insert Considerations

Posted by kelly-it (My Page) on

I've been reviewing wood fireplace inserts for sale in my area northeast of Baltimore and mostly see Quadra-Fire and Regency. I've done a little traveling and have seen Vt Castings and Jotul also. I've narrowed my choices to Quadra-Fire 4100i, Hampton HI300, Vermont Castings large Winter Warm, and Jotul C350 Winterport. The Jotul is new, I saw some good reviews for Hampton at this site, and I saw some reviews for the Quadra-Fire and WinterWarm at The 4100i is several hundred more expensive than most of the others. I like the look of all of them. Do you have any experiences to share? Thanks.

RE: Fireplace Insert Considerations

Well I can only speak on Quadra Fire and on the 3100i. We just got it this summer and have used it three times so far and we really love the performance! Even without using the blower our upstairs rooms heated up very very nicely. I realize it's not winter yet and it hasn't really been tested but we are very pleased with our unit. I really like how the logs are totally consumed by the flames. This was a major investment for us and we also will receive a coupon for $250 towards the purchase of a chainsaw since we bought a Quad. You're doing the right thing by researching the different brands. All the best on your decision. I look forward to using ours this coming Cleveland winter!!
