Refurbishing gas logs vs new

Posted by cherigw (My Page) on

The local fireplace people will refurbish my gas logs (c. 1982) for $175 (clean logs, replace sand and ashes). New ones will run about $500. I don't need them for heat, although they do put out quite a bit. Has anyone refurbished their logs? Were you pleased? Better to buy new ones? Thanks!!
