| There are many different brands out there. But you need to find one that is available in your area. And unless you are planning to install it yourself you need a local source. Do NOT buy one at Home Desperado! If there's a problem with it, the teenager with the 5 pounds of piercings can't help you. You'll have to deal with the manufacturer directly. There are sone great units out there. Avalon, Lopi, Regency, Harmon, etc. But you NEED to go to a local stove shop to get the info you need. Price? It depends on whether you live in a single story or multiple story house. Because you will need a liner in your chimney from the current size to 6 inches. The overall cost will be in the range of $2500 to $3500 including installation. The payback will be about 2 to 3 years in fuel savings. Providing you can get wood or pellets locally. Go to a local stove shop. And be prepared to get in line waiting for an insert. They're all swamped with orders. The stove shop by me is saying JANUARY delivery. |
