Fireplace built into wall unit ?

I would like to put my gas fireplace in the middle of a 10 ft wall and fit it into a 36 inch high surround/cabinet that goes the entire length of the wall. Has anyone done this? I'd love to see pictures. Trying to get a more contemporary simple look, instead of the traditional hearth and mantel.

Make sure you check your local codes as to required side and top clearances around the firebox opening and the hearth requirements.
